Shackleton Primary Crowned Street Tag Champions – Again!

Shackleton Primary School is proud to announce that we have once again been crowned Street Tag Champions, finishing 1st place on the Bedford leaderboard this season. Even more impressively, we were given a special shoutout as back-to-back champions, winning the competition for two consecutive seasons.

This fantastic achievement reflects the commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork shown by our pupils and their families, who worked together to stay active, collect tags and support one another throughout the season.

Bedford Street Tag Leaderboard (Top 5 Schools)

  • 1st – Shackleton Primary School: 16,787,750 points
  • 2nd – Hazeldene School: 11,066,740 points
  • 3rd – Ursula Taylor C of E Primary School: 8,779,730 points
  • 4th – St John Rigby Catholic Primary School: 5,494,645 points
  • 5th – Cotton End Forest School: 5,400,025 points

As a result of finishing in first place, our PTA will receive £200, which will be used to further improve our school environment.

Season Highlights

  • 49,071,375 steps completed
  • 97,992 tags collected
  • 74,222 miles covered

To put this incredible effort into perspective, the total distance covered is the equivalent of walking the Bedford Green Wheel more than 700 times. By choosing to walk instead of drive, our school community also saved over 30,000kg of CO₂, the same amount absorbed by more than 1,300 mature trees in a year.

A huge thank you to all our children and families for their continued support and enthusiasm. This is a brilliant example of how small daily choices can make a big difference to our health, wellbeing and the environment.
