Online Safety
At Shackleton we take online safety very seriously. It forms part of our school’s safeguarding responsibilities. Dr BenBrahim, Mrs McKinney and Miss Butt are very happy to advise you on any online queries or problems.
If you have any queries regarding online safety, or would like any advice, please email us at: [email protected]
Parents and children often become upset if there are problems on social media between children. At Shackleton, we will observe the following guidance and questions to help you:
- Is the child of an appropriate age to use the app? If not, does the school need to get further support from the police or social care?
- Are the parents fully aware and monitoring the child’s social media presence and apps? If not, does the school need to get further support from the police or social care?
- Is this a repetition of previous events? If so, what were the outcomes previously?
- Has a criminal act taken place? Is so, this will be passed to the police and social care.
- All parents of the children concerned will be informed, and the content of the messages shared with other parents if appropriate.
- The school will take the necessary steps to safeguard all of the children involved in each issue. If it becomes apparent that there has also been online bullying, then the school will again take the necessary steps.
