Attendance & Behaviour
At Shackleton Primary School we aim for an environment which enables and encourages all members of the school community to be the best that they can. For our children to gain the greatest benefit from their education, it is vital that they attend regularly. Your child should be at school, on time, every day the school is open, unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.
We have a very successful system in place for rewarding good attendance and punctuality. Each week the class with the highest percentage attendance is recognised in the newsletter and at the end of each half term, there is an attendance raffle where whole-class attendance improvements and successes are rewarded with a ‘prize’ decided on by the class.
Attendance is regularly monitored by our attendance team at Shackleton and in liasion with our Trust Attendance Lead. Where a pattern of persistent absence is identified, the school team will contact parents for a meeting to discuss these absences. If attendance does not improve, you may be asked to meet with the Trust Attendance Lead to look at how your child’s attednance can be supported to improve.

At Shackleton, we use a common-sense approach to illness and attending school.
