School Meals
Shackleton Primary understands the importance of providing children with healthy and nutritious food which enhances levels of concentration and achievement. We ensure every child has access to food choices in line with the mandatory School Food Standards.
Lunchtime is an important part of the whole school experience, and the children are taught to always behave with consideration and good manners.
The menu is regularly refreshed and provides food of the highest quality on a daily basis. Water and milk are made available for all children, every lunch time.
The team do everything possible to accommodate specialist dietary requirements, we are a nut free school and are proud to offer gluten free alternatives. Please keep the school informed of any changes in dietary requirements your child may have.
All children in EYFS, Year 1, 2 & 3 are entitled to a free school meal under the Universal Infant Free School meal directive. Once your child reaches Year 3, school meals become payable via ParentPay and cost £2.55 per day. Dependant on circumstances, some children are still entitled to free school meals beyond Year 2. For more information on this, please follow this link to our Free School Meals page Free School Meals | Shackleton Primary School
Alternatively, your child can bring their own packed lunch. Please make sure these follow the guidance in the Healthy Eating Policy and DO NOT contain any nuts, sweets/chocolate or fizzy drinks.
Children should bring a re-usable bottle of water with them every day, they will have access to drinking water throughout the day to keep this topped up.
