Local Advisory Board
Shackleton’s Local Advisory Board (previously known as Governing Body) monitors the key aspects of the school, reporting to the Trustees as well as questioning and challenging the senior leaders of the school and acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the Head Teacher. The Governors have responsibility for guiding the school in its mission, aims and values. We do this by maintaining close contact with the Head Teacher and working with the staff to ensure they all have the facilities and resources needed to do their jobs effectively.
Who are the Governors?
The Local Advisory Board is a mixture of elected and appointed persons representing various aspects of the community. Parent Governors elected by parents of pupils who attend the school, School Governor elected by the staff at Shackleton, Co-opted Governors appointed by HEART Academies Trust.

Structure of the Local Advisory Board
Shackleton Primary School meets at school twice a term and the Governors visit school as often as they can. Each Governor has a specific role in the Local Advisory Board and liaises closely with the relevant staff to monitor and evaluate their aspect of school life.
