Reception Visit to Wimpole Farm

Reception pupils at Shackleton Primary School enjoyed a fantastic day out at Wimpole Farm on Wednesday, taking part in a hands-on learning experience and meeting lots of farm animals along the way.

During the visit, the children had the opportunity to stroke a gentle shire horse called Murphy, watch pigs being fed — which proved to be very noisy and exciting — and see a two-day-old baby calf.

The trip gave pupils the chance to explore life on the farm, learn more about animals and their care, and enjoy outdoor learning experiences with their classmates.

Staff were incredibly proud of how well the children represented the school throughout the day, showing curiosity, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour. It was a memorable experience for everyone involved and a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life.
